On last night’s August Full Moon, I spritzed on this perfume, Nepenthe. I had been feeling a little down and muddled all day long, wrapped up in emotion and tangled up by my mood.
A blast of marshmallow popped through, and the fantasy of roasting them over a campfire on a lovely summer night like this flooded my mind. Visions of caramel ribbons and spoonfuls of honey helping the medicine go down. Tahitian Vanilla Beans broken open and burned down into a resinous incense and the pulse of the scent emanating softly like a heartbeat or the warm purr of a cat napping nearby. Soft, airy cotton candy turning into wistful clouds to cover the bright light of the moon. And in a dark blanketed night sky, shimmering stars twinkling sweetly through with their light to contrast.
My mood completely uplifted, I had the strongest feeling that the fragrance itself was not unlike a gentle familiar, a soft animal presence that follows you everywhere you go, trimming the shadows around you with a compassionate glow.
Such a down to earth and multidimensional vanilla fragrance that exudes a soulfulness that feels quite companion like.
Nepenthe is utterly addicting—sweet, airy, and completely irresistible. It’s one of those scents you inhale… then inhale again… and hold your breath, because letting go feels impossible. It’s soft, luminous, and delicate without ever being cloying or overdone. The vanilla sugar creates this sheer, gossamer sweetness that feels weightless yet enveloping. Then the pink pepper steps in—hands down the coolest, most intriguing take on pink pepper I’ve ever smelled. It’s fizzy, bright, almost crystalline, like electricity crackling through spun sugar. Underneath it all, olibanum and tonka add just the right depth. There’s warmth, resin, and subtle richness, grounding the airy sweetness with something quietly smoldering. The whole composition is unique, balanced, and completely captivating.
This is easily my favorite gourmand of the year—maybe even beyond. It’s not loud, but it lingers in the best way. I’m absolutely enthralled. I absolutely adore this one!
This is the most delicious fragrance! Not as sweet as it sounds. I find that it leans a bit cashmere even though that's not one of the listed notes.
And it lasts a nice long time on the skin. Smelling it makes you want to keep smelling it!
I really don't know what happened, but my nose didn't get vanilla or tonka or pink pepper. All I got was a sharp, unpleasant cherry cough syrup smell.
This is a lovely fragrance. Unfortunately some vanillas nauseate me a little. This one didn’t affect me THAT much but unfortunately i may not be able to wear it much. Which is sad because i do really love it. I’ll need to give it more tries to see if i can handle it.
I gotta admit, I'm a sucker for anything vanilla. This one definitely has a very sweet beginning, similar to pink sugar or something similar. However, as time goes on, it mellows down quite a bit on the sweetness and becomes much more complex and warm. I would say it's a little on the "young" side, though I'm 41 and I'm coming back to buy a full size. So it's a young fragrance but not immature.
Vibe: Powdered candy dream, but grown-up.

I didn’t even order this, it came extra with the discovery set I purchased, so THANK YOU because I LOVE this scent. I typically dislike vanilla, usually too sweet or not very unique BUT this scent is more warm, and a bit spicy making it very unique. Just purchased a big bottle. AND it last a long time.

the pepper hits first, hides the sweetness a little, but then opens up and the sweet and sharp play together very well., very pretty without being too sweet or perfumey. I bought a full size.
This is so yummy, but not like a cupcake. Like a delicious fruity gin drink. It’s complex and layered with just a whisp of sweetness.
I just knew this one was going to be good and it did not disappoint! Sweet, slightly spicy and oh so comforting. Nepenthe is one of those fragrances that you smell and you find your eyes drifting closed and a smile spreading across your face. Truly lovely!
This smells amazing when it's first sprayed. Pretty sweet, a little peppery, overall quite light. Unfortunately, it started smelling like cough syrup within 5 minutes of being sprayed. It settles after a bit to a much lighter, warm vanilla scent if you can get through the initial cough syrup whammy.
This fragrance is a beautiful addition to my collection. It’s a very sexy vanilla that is not sweet, but instead it’s warm, sensual and addictive. The dry down is top tier
